Parish Hall Refurbishment
Across Drumglass Parish, we are blessed to have a great suite of buildings which are regularly used to host services and provide a home for our varied range of organisations. Over many years, the Select Vestry has worked with diligence and dedication to ensure that our buildings are well maintained and are fit to serve their purpose.
Generations who preceded us, have shown great faith and tremendous courage in undertaking ambitious projects, in order to ensure that Drumglass Parish has had the necessary facilities to serve the mission of the church and to bless our local community.
The Parish Hall in Dungannon was one such project. Under the leadership of Canon O’Connor, the new halls were opened in 1972 and immediately provided a hub for the parish, which has been widely used by literally thousands of people over the past 50 years.
That same vision continues to inspire us today.
As we seek to faithfully proclaim the Good News of Jesus Christ in our community today, we must have buildings which are fit for purpose. Following discussion and consultation, the Select Vestry has concluded that the Parish Hall requires significant renovation and updating.
Exciting plans for the Parish Hall project have now been drawn up. Upon completion, access will be significantly improved, thanks to the installation of a lift from the carpark level, serving every floor of the building. An enlarged welcome foyer will provide additional space for fellowship opportunities at our popular Shoppers’ Service and on Sundays. Two new meeting rooms will provide safe, accessible and flexible space, which will be used by existing organisations and provide an opportunity for us all to think about how we grow in fellowship, reach out to the community around us and develop new initiatives, as we seek to welcome people into our buildings.
This is a landmark project for Drumglass Parish and it is important that all parishioners have the opportunity to become involved and share in this exciting project. The official launch of this fantastic project took place on Sunday 1st March at 10.30 a.m. in the Parish Hall, combining our 10 a.m. and 11.30 a.m. services. This gathering allowed the parish to unite in worship and to hear about the project, as we look to the future together.
