Brownies + 3 photos (already sent)
“This year our 22 Brownies have had lots of fun, friendship, challenge and adventure.
Over the winter months we made good use of the Hall doing craft activities, badge challenges, noisy games and celebrations.
A highlight was the 'I'm a Brownie Get Me Out of Here' evening, which the girls fully embraced, making shelters and participating in yucky challenges to get rewards for their teams.
Recently, Nicole Thompson came to share with the girls about the mission trip to Kenya and the Brownies did a great job collecting change in CMSI boxes and raiding their cupboards for clothes, shoes and books to send to the children in Kenya. We are looking forward to Nicole coming back to tell us all about the trip in the Autumn term.
The better weather lets us get out and about! We went to Lorne Brownie House where we went on Pack Holiday with other Units from Newmills and Coalisland. The girls had a great time using the mini zip wire in the Brownie playground and the more adventurous activities of the high ropes and the new high zip wire at Lorne estate.
Back at the Hall, we took advantage of a lovely evening in May, going out to the Church garden. The girls worked in teams on a challenge to see how many creatures and plants they could find. They proved to be intrepid and their lists were truly amazing! We then used that great space for team running games and made smores over some disposable barbeques. The ‘Fit for Life’ ladies looked longingly as they went by!
Our year finished with a very enjoyable outing to Clementsmount Fun Farm in Crumlin, with over 150 other Brownies from all over County Tyrone. The forecasted storm did not arrive and we even had to use sun cream in the afternoon. The girls got to meet lots of other Brownies while they enjoyed all the activities of the farm.
We finished the day with our Pack and Killyman Brownies stopping off at Friar Tuck's on the way home, so we arrived back with renewed energy!
The Brownie programme year has flown by and we wish all the Brownies a great summer.”
