SOUP LUNCH for BISHOPS’ APPEAL - IF YOU INTEND TO JOIN US ON 29TH MARCH PLEASE SIGN UP THIS SUNDAY 15TH MARCH.
Each year in Drumglass, we support Bishops’ Appeal, which is the Church of Ireland’s World Aid and Development Programme, set up by the Bishops of the Church, in response to the commands in the Bible to bring good news to the poor and relief to the suffering.
Bishops’ Appeal works through partner Organisations and Mission Agencies such as Christian Aid, Tear Fund and Mothers’ Union to implement Christ’s “Mission Statement” to feed the hungry, lift the burden of poverty from the poor and bring freedom and hope to the oppressed.
Bishops’ Appeal contributes to the relief of suffering in times of emergencies, whether natural or man-made, while also supporting ongoing development in sustainable agriculture, health and education, in many parts of the world.
Lent is a time when we are encouraged to fast or to give up some food or other indulgence. On Sunday 29th March, after the service in St Anne’s, we will have a Soup and Bread Lunch. Please consider giving up your Sunday Roast dinner on this date to enjoy some delicious soup and bread, while also donating to Bishops’ Appeal. Don’t forget that you can use Gift Aid to increase your donation.
To help with catering, please sign up on sheets, at the back of both churches. If you are unable to come to the Lunch but would like to make a donation, envelopes are available in the pews
